Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute (HKJCDPRI) is a project funded by Hong Kong Jockey Club aiming to build a prepared community in Hong Kong to respond to disasters. HKJCDPRI is based at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, and partners with Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC), the University of Hong Kong and Harvard University.

The opportunity came to us to create an online and offline long term campaign to educate Hong Kong residents the disaster knowledge and how to respond to disasters. We brainstormed the "Choose To Survive" campaign with an online portal that include multiple choice questions for audiences to answer on each disasters, supporting with key facts and knowledge in infographic and animation format for easy understanding, and also in poster format for people to download and pin it up.

The logotype is based on slanting element of the whole look and feel. There are narrow platforms in red, representing the emergency way out. We, the little running figure, need ot go up and down in order to exit and survive in this difficult situation, mimicking the objective of the campaign. The font style of thick verticals and thin horizontals symbolised the columns and surfaces of a building or a place, while the gaps inbetween stand for the obstacles we face during a disaster.

We used flat graphics with perspective to visualise all the details. There are 10 different disasters and we created 10 different islands to illustrate specific consequences.

For the offline game, we thought of different board games and card games for each disasters. Through small group workshops, the kids and young ones are able to learn through playing.
